dead bear in river

dead bear in river about 50 yards south of aligator rock on the road side in Limestone camp,the camp host said it was reported three weeks earlier .It was stinking up the area real bad ,I"m wondering what caused its death and is someones job to find out,and just maybe remove it from the river.

Things like that used to be the DFG's responsibility and they used to do a good job on that. However, with government involved the DFG and USFS are probably pointing the blame fingers at each other. The only time government agencies want to claim authority is when fine money is involved. If it's still there, I'd call the Tulare Health Dept. In the river it would be a health & safety hazard. It used to be that some animal/bio expert would want to autopsy it and find out how/why it died, just in case the cause might spread to other animals.

At any rate 3 weeks is more than enough time to remove it. The DFG used to respond within a couple days when we had live bear trouble at Roads End and McNallys. Times are a changing.
