POWER FIRE FINAL UPDATE

SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST The Power Fire that was discovered Sunday evening
on the Sequoia National Forest is 100% contained as of this morning. The
Power Fire burned 329 acres, destroyed a portion of the flume that runs
between the PG&E Powerhouse and Springville, left 1000 residents above
Springville without power for twelve hours, and closed Highway 190 between
Springville and Camp Nelson.

Highway 190 reopened today, however travellers are advised to use extreme
caution while driving through the fire area. Over 100 firefighters
continue to work on the fireline today and crews will patrol the fire over
the next few days; expect to encounter crews and equipment working along
the road.

The fire started along the Tule River west of the Stairs on the Western
Divide Ranger District, Giant Sequoia National Monument. The cause of the
fire is under investigation. For latest information on the Power Fire
