Lake Isabella Flash Flood

Postby admin » Mon Jul 14, 2008 12:33 am

Thought members would be interested in the flash flood video to give you an idea of what we're going through here. There is still concern at this time about another flash flood expected to come down Erskine Creek Rd. (Where the high school is). They say it will be 100' wide and 6' high and evacuation is recommended. Here's the link to the one that came through near Tank Park. The lower Kern River is a muddy brown since Saturday.

Admin,

You note the 'lower' Kern is mud? Is the upper Kern(above the lake) in good shape

Be sure to pop in at the Community Forum and click on links to videos of the valley's recent concerns.

Those who fish: The lower Kern is a mess of muddy water. The upper Kern isn't so bad but some say it's not the best conditions for fishing right now. You do have to watch the skies. Weather reports have been 20% chance of afternoon thunderstorms and showers everyday since last Saturday. But they don't show anything over next few days and it does change daily. Current storm issues are unpredictable. WATCH THE SKIES and get to high ground fast when it looks questionable. We do the weather every day from Corps of Engineers at Lake Isabella dam. http://www.kernvalley.com/news/weather.htm

The lake is doing great for fishing...and you don't have to worry about flash floods, just watch the wind conditions.
