YOUR TRADITIONAL LAKESIDE ACCESS IS THREATENED!
As a participant in the Isabella Lake Fishing Derby who enjoys fishing, camping and other recreation around Lake Isabella we thought you should know. Please read the following and then take action IMMEDIATELY as outlined below to help protect your access to your public lands.
Thanks to Stewards of the Sequoia we recently discovered the Sequoia National Forest Service has proposed that "all vehicular traffic will be confined to project roads and will be controlled through placement of barriers and development of designated parking areas"
The Sequoia National Forest plan also proposes to close over 300 miles of existing roads around the lake.
As we all know the water level of the Lake changes, which means none of the few roads they propose to keep open are at lakeside.
In other words you will no longer be able to park at the lakeside or drive off the few designated roads to fish, camp or anything else.
The Sequoia plan will also restrict dispersed camping to within one car length of the few roads the Forest Service proposes to allow you to use.
There is a way to help prevent this by taking just Two Minutes to submit a comment to the Forest Service using the link below. Save The Trails have provided a letter generator with pre drafted comments and we hope you will also add your own. The comment deadline is midnight next Tuesday 3/31/09, however we will accept comments after that date in case the deadline is extended.
PLEASE ACT NOW-ONCE THE LAKESIDE ACCESS IS CLOSED IT WILL BE TOO LATE. CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW TO SUBMIT YOUR COMMENT IN JUST TWO MINUTES: http://www.savethetrails.us/Default.aspx?PetitionID=37
Then if you can please call your legislators listed below
Please call and ask these legislators to help stop the closure of the roads and trails in the Mountains and the roads and areas around the Lake:
Congressman McCarthy's office (661) 327-3611
Senator Roy Ashburn (661) 323-0443
Assemblymember Fuller (661) 395-2995
Kern County Board of Supervisors (661) 868-3650
Please ACT NOW. The proposed plan will go into effect in as little as three months without everyone's help to stop it.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ANYONE WHO ENJOYS THE LAKE OR THE MOUNTAINS

We want to thank Stewards of the Sequoia for bringing this threat to our attention, based on their detailed research of the 600 page Sequoia Forest DEIS plan proposal.
